North Georgia Wedding Venues // An hour or two north of Atlanta, Georgia turns into mountains: vineyards around Dahlonega and Cleveland, apple country in Ellijay, waterfalls, mountain lakes and, in the far northwest corner, the cliffs of Lookout Mountain. It is easy to see why so many couples head up here to marry.
We picked 16 venues across five areas and checked each one on its own website for current weddings, capacities and, where they publish them, prices. For more of the state, see our guides to wedding venues in Georgia and outdoor wedding venues in Georgia.
Written October 2026. Prices and capacities are the ones the venues published at the time; always confirm them when you inquire. Cover photo by Ruzin Cunningham, a Georgia photographer in our community.

Good To Know Before You Book
- Marriage license: licenses come from a county probate court, and you both need to be there. Fees vary; in Habersham County it is $77, or $37 with a certificate of premarital education. There is no waiting period, the license doesnโt expire, and it goes back to the court within 30 days of the wedding.
- State parks: every wedding in a Georgia state park needs the parkโs approval. At Vogel State Park, for example, every car needs a ParkPass and alcohol is not allowed.
- National forest: in the Chattahoochee National Forest, a special use permit is needed for gatherings of 75 or more and for any commercial activity, which includes professional photography. Apply at least 90 days ahead.
