“Rachael + Woody’s Mountain Shadows Romantic Resort Wedding was definitely one for the books! I met Rachael + Woody in December of 2017 after photographing her sister’s beautiful Windmill Winery wedding. I love being able to capture memories for multiple family members over a period of time! It’s so awesome to put those memories together and look at for years to come! I spend a few days in New York photographing Rachael + Woody’s engagement session and getting to know them even better was a blast! Over the next several months, they put together one of the best weddings ever!”
I love hearing the love stories of our couples! Here is a sneak peek into how Woody + Rachael met in Rachael’s words!
HOW THEY MET!
“I had tried online dating once, with little success, and thought for sure I would meet my future husband the old fashioned way. And so, it came as a surprise (a great one) that I found him by swiping left during an NYC snowstorm in January of 2015. That night, he called me (like they used to do in 1999) and we talked for 3 hours straight.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
I knew he was special immediately. 2 days later, on January 20th, we met in person on the corner of 7th Ave, right by the Christopher Street subway stop in the West Village. He looked like he had stepped out of the pages of GQ, and his smile gave me butterflies. We hit it off immediately thereafter.
2 YEARS LATER!
Fast forward to 2 and a half years later on April 14th, 2017. Woody and I had taken adventures, made new friends, helped each other thru tough times, celebrated during the great times, and most importantly, fallen deeply in love. I knew he was my guy. April 14th was a clear, perfect, AZ blue sky day at the Grand Canyon. Woody had never been to the Canyon, and I had to be the one to show it to him. Our good friends Amy and Abe had joined us and were taking pictures of us. The next thing I knew, Woody was letting me know that he would like to spend the rest of his life with me. He popped down on one knee in front of a nice crowd of German tourists, our friends, and one of God’s most breathtaking creations as a backdrop (Nailed it!) Of course I said “yes!” 3 hours later, back in Phoenix, there were more surprises! Woody, with the help of our families, threw a giant surprise engagement party for us, complete with his family members, who had flown out to AZ! It was one of the happiest days of my life.”
