“It was so cinematic that I couldn’t believe my eyes, and I’m glad to have evidence of the moment.”

How the image came to happen!

This was my last wedding of the season, Katie and Alonso had been practicing their first dance all year long. They made sure to tell me where to be in preparation for their dip and everything! They were SO proud of their accomplishment. It had been raining all night long, but they were still crossing their fingers for a sparkler exit, and I knew the light would be amazing with the reflections on the wet pavement. I told Alonso to dip Katie as soon as they got to the bottom of the stairs and I waited! She was so surprised, and their friends and family cheered them on while I shot away. It was so cinematic that I couldn’t believe my eyes, and I’m glad to have evidence of the moment.

When was the image shot?

As the couple exited their wedding on 12/27/2014.

What kind of gear did you use?

  • Canon 5D Mark II
  • Canon 24-70 mm L II
  • Canon Speedlite 580ex II.

My umbrella bounced the flash softly toward the couple in the most magical way!
